إللي عَنْدو فَُمْو, ما يتْلَفْش


Here’s an apt proverb for this stage of my life in Casa:

He would has a mouth is never lost. (Illi 3andou foumou, ma ytlafsh.)

It’s now been three weeks since I’ve been in Casablanca. Three weeks is enough time to get only a very basic grasp on the city’s geography, but every time I get out I learn something new.

Thankfully people have been very helpful. That is, whenever I go out and actually ask for help. I’m not a “Bob” level agoraphobic, but I do tend to get impatient with myself and occasionally I wish I could skip to the part where people ask me for directions. This is a huge and sometimes intimidating city, and I fantasize about the day I can consider myself “Casa savvy.”
